  Barron Aviation Private Flight Services offers a unique and unmatched Vintage Training Program. This program includes training and certification in tail-wheel airplanes and even aerobatics. We offer training in a Cessna 170, Cessna 190/195, Beechcraft 18, and a Beechcraft T6.


 

The Cessna 170

This beautifully restored Cessna 170 is primarily used for tail-wheel training and certification. However, if you already hold a tail-wheel certification the aircraft is available for rent. With seating for four, and a cruise speed of 124 knots, the Cessna 170 makes for a fun flying experience. The airplane has been restored by Barron Aviation and flying it is truely a great experience for any pilot. This airplane employs a 145 horsepower engine that produces a healthy 500-700 foot per minute climb rate. It can easily seat four adults and stay under the takeoff limits.

Training Options

If you are interested in training in this aircraft, we have a great program for you. Our pilots and instructors are all certified in tail-wheel instruction and they will use their expertise to get you confortable with the airplane. The Cessna 190/195

This is an iconic aircraft by Cessna. The 195 is truely a classic and it is not everyday that a pilot will have the opportunity to take the controls of one. With seating for four and a 330 horsepower engine, you will have plenty of space and performance for any type of flying. And with a cruise speed just under 150 knots, you can quickly fly to many exciting locations in the Midwest. This plane and other Cessna 190/195 aircraft are available for rental and training.

Training Options

We do offer flight training in this aircraft but training is usually performed after some experience in smaller, less powerful tail-wheel aircraft. Call today for more information. 

The Beechcraft 18

The Beechcraft 18 at the Hannibal Airport is a newly restored airplane with tons of raw power and exceptional performance. Even with its size, the plane has great turning capabilities and is fairly light on the controls. This aircraft is configured for skydiving operations but is available for rent. With two 450 horsepower engines, the Beech 18 is a powerful machine, and fun to fly.

The North American T-6

Want to go fast? The T-6 is the vintage airplane for you. We offer training and checkouts in this wonderfly restored aircraft. The T-6 is capable of reaching speeds over 300 miles per hour. This aircraft is used for aerobatic training also. You will have a ton of fun flying high, fast, and with amazing controllablilty.

Vintage Aircraft Training is a very uncommon opportunity for pilots.
